Celebrating community spirit throughout the year

Children's Gala

The Children's Gala is run by the Musselburgh and Inveresk Community Council and takes place on the second Saturday in June. This year it will be on 13 June 2026. Ticketholders get a goodie bag, ice cream and access to shows. For the first time this year we are hosting the Youth Games featuring teams from the Army Cadets, Sea Cadets, Scouts, Guides and Boys' Brigade. Adults and young adults do not require to buy tickets. Remembrance

Each year the Community Council arranges the sale of poppies to support the Earl Haig Fund Scotland, which supports veterans of the British Armed Forces and their dependents. On Remembrance Sunday, members of the cadets march along the High Street and an act of remembrance takes place at the War Memorial at 12.30pm.
We are also integral in organising the selling of Poppies across Musselburgh, and effort which regularly raises in excess of £7,000 for Poppy Scotland.

Christmas

At Christmas, the Community Council arranges the Christmas Lights in the town. On Advent Sunday there is a torchlit procession along the High Street followed by a short service.
